StyleSeat got a mention in Entrepreneur Mag!
I spoke with Entrepreneur mag a few weeks back about the techniques we use to brainstorm. Had a bunch of ideas, but glad the reporter agreed that beer can be an important business tool :)

StyleSeat: Our Story and Vision
styleseat:
StyleSeat has been making waves recently- both in the press as well as in our strong community growth since our May launch. As we start to become more of a force in the beauty world I want to talk a bit about our vision and how we plan on shaping the industry.
I started StyleSeat because I was frustrated that I couldn’t find and book a hair stylist online. I then realized beauty...

Jack Dorsey on Twitter, Square and how to build a...
Love this interview of Jack. He breaks things down to their most essential and is a great storyteller. We’re at a point in our business where we’ve built something useful and are about to start to tell our community’s stories so it’s particularly inspiring for me.

Rumblings of Something New
Just about everything I’ve put on this blog for the past year or so has been random iPhone photos or postings from around the web. The reason for this is that I’ve been working 6 or 7 days a week building a company that’s been in stealth mode. Any interesting thoughts I have are about something I can’t talk about, which leads to a sad little iphone photo blog.
Very soon...

Great exploration about trying to create something noteworthy and the challenges that come with the struggle.
Creating a startup is a lot of drudgery. Insane hours. Solitary planning and pushing ahead. The toil creates a space where doubt can creep in once and a while. I like that this shows a hint of that, but also paints a vivid picture of why these men do what they do.

Things I'm looking forward to in 2011
I’m feeling good about this year! I think a lot of folks had a tough 2010, many had job changes, financial challenges and generally it was a stressful year. At the end of things though, I feel like most of my friends/family did impressive things in 2010- my parents moved from the burbs to San Francisco (huge), many friends started companies and Dan and I bootstrapped our business for most...

My Thoughts on Path
I’m fascinated by Path. As a disclosure, Path’s founder Dave Morin is an investor of mine, but he knows I’m not afraid to tell him if I don’t agree :) and the company inspired me to write for the first time in a while, so here goes. Path is different because it’s aiming to bring meaning to our interactions. There is a lot of fluffy tech that utilizes easy viral...

Building a Network
Recently @bradcoughlin asked me this on Twitter:
I’m pretty interested in the the subject and thought it merited a blog post. In my opinion the strength of your network is directly proportional to how effective you can be. When I first came to SF I realized that tech was the first thing I’d ever been really excited about. At the time I was in pr (a career I couldn’t have been...

Welcome Leah Culver!
I’m happy to announce that Leah Culver is working with StyleSeat as a part-time developer! She’s actually been working with us for several months now, but announcements (even late ones) are always nice.
As an entrepreneur, she has strong product instinct and has been a huge value to our tiny-yet-mighty team. Thanks to her help we’ve shipped a ton of essential features out the...

Tennis is for Zombies
The UK’s Guardian blogger highlighted the ludicrously long 10 1/2 hour Wimbledon match between Mahut and Isner. The live blog for the historic game, which ended at 59-all (I know) started as respectable coverage of an important event. After a full day though it got pretty hilarious. My favorite portion:

I love this. One of the common factors of my entrepreneur friends is that they all have a story about not fitting in when they were young, either because they got terrible grades or didn’t understand the larger systems society grooms us to be a part of. Cameron has a few funny stories and ideas on how to foster a child’s entrepreneurial instincts.
I also fished golf balls out of the...
