The best article I’ve read in a while was in Vanify Fair this month and was about Julia Child. I’ve never known much about her, not old enough to know much about her contributions to television or the cooking world. I’m enamored by her accomplishments and gusto as well as impressed by her 6’2” frame which made her taller than the vast majority of men.
She transcribed sensitive communications during the war, she wrote a definitive book on cooking, loved her husband deeply and became a household icon that defined a generation. And she was funny.
